Closing Cases

Hi, I've been using Zoho for a little while now and I'm having trouble viewing all closed cases when I select the view option. All activities are closed within the cases and the case itself is marked as closed but it shows in the open cases.
I have a couple cases listed as closed when it's still "On Hold". The "On Hold" cases don't even have activities in them, and I have other cases that are open without activity and is not shown as closed.. it's mixed around and is very confusing. I would think the simple way to close a case is to ... close the case.. and all activity with it.. This does not seem to work.. someone help me.
