Comments no longer displayed on side of document

Comments no longer displayed on side of document

I accidentaly hit some combination of keys, and now I cannot see my comments.  When I click on the word(s) linked to the comment, I see an upside down triangle on the R side (see picture), but no comments.  I am a reasonably tech savvy person, and have already tried everything in the Review menu, the options in the R-click menu, changing the page layout, etc., and still can't figure out how to get my comments to re-appear.  Any help would be appreciated.
