Company vs Account in Lead Record

We do not want to use the Company field in the Lead record because it can result in duplicate Account records once the Lead is converted.  We would prefer to add the Account record first and then add a Lead record under that Account.

The standard Add Lead screen does not have an Account field, so I added a lookup to the Account record.  Now I want that Account value to carry over once the Lead is converted to a Contact, but the Account field is not present on the Convert Lead Mapping screen.

How can I get around this so that I can always use the Account field on the Lead record rather than the Company field
