Concatenating data in Zoho CRM is impossible. Why?
We run a lead-generation site. We get leads when people download brochures from our site, giving their names and contact details. But the way Zoho handles fresh data makes it completely unsuitable for lead-gen.
An example. Ana Smithe has used our brochure sign-up forms to request two brochures, one on Turkey and one on Hungary. Both sign-ups appear as separate records in Zoho CRM, i.e., Ana Smithe appears twice. If she signs up for a fresh brochure, she will appear as 3 records. And if we email all people who have signed up she will get 3 emails all addressed to Ana Smithe. Obviously unsatisfactory!
If we deduplicate Ana's records either we lose the fact that she has signed up for Hungary, or for Turkey.
The Zoho CRM API similarly offers no way of dealing with the issue.
This is crazy. My media partner's email system allows him to identify a record by its email address, and concatenates fresh data. So when Ana signs up for both Turkey and Hungary, this fact appears in the record attached to her email address as "Interests: Hungary, Turkey".
Why cannot Zoho do this? When can we expect this very basic function incorporated?
