Confusion around users/aliases/emails

Hi all,

I have two website emails: info@x.com and name@x.com. I want to completely remove info@x.com as it is catching tons of spam. Have been trying to do this simple change for the past 2 hours and I am just completely stuck. I only have one registered user which is a super admin but I am being denied permissions. It is telling me I should contact the admin (which is myself) at the email address (which is my current login as super admin). Baffled.

When I try to delete my info@x.com as my secondary email, it says" Please contact your Organization administrator name@x.com,to delete your email address
This would obviously indicate that I am not logged in with the correct permissions, but I definitely am!
I have tried logging in with name@x.com and info@x.com and both have the same result.
Here are my settings under Profile->Email Address: Primary mail: name@x.com, Secondary Email: info@x.com
The profile window on the top right shows name@x.com

This is where is gets confusing. I head over to the control panel, and I see that info@x.com is the main email address that is registered. And name@x.com is the default alias. So just delete name@x.com and make a completely new email account with these details right? When I try to remove name@x.com I get the follwing:  Cannot delete primary email address from here
So I try to delete the info@x.com and get:  Alias email Id is current default addresss , please set some other alias as default and then delete alias.
So I add a random alias but I still receive the same message.
