Contact becomes new account but now has no address?
I have on several occasions added a name and address as a contact or converted from a lead then later had to add a new account name for that contact. The problem is that adding this Account from the contact popup window, you have to retype in the address since it is not carried over from the Contacts address.
If you create a new Account for a Contact you should have the option to automatically copy the address from the contact to the new account without retype.
