Contacts handling is very limited, especially with regard to categories

I'm considering migrating users from Outlook to Zoho. However the category handling in Zoho Contacts is very poor, resulting in severely reduced functionality if I go ahead with the migration:

1) The biggest problem I see is that category information is not part of the contact data - it is specified separately. This means:
  • You can't import contacts that contain category information and have them individually assigned automatically to the correct categories. Zoho only allows import to fixed categories.
  • Category information is not exported with a contact. So if I export a contact, then if I re-import that contact all the category information is lost. This loss of data means that Zoho fails a basic export/import test - after such a test the contact data should be invariant.

2) The Contact data cannot be extended. Outlook (& Gmail) allow additional fields to be defined in the contact data. Having this capability would help alleviate the problem identified in #1.

3) When performing an export, only the Contacts selected should (imo) be exported. Currently all the Contacts are always exported, unless you choose Export from the Category keyword, in which case all Contacts in that category will be exported (this second method being an option I initially didn't find). Only exporting selected (ie filtered) Contacts will make it unnecessary to have two different Export mechanisms.
