Creating a meeting in a different timezone

Creating a meeting in a different timezone

Hello. I'm about to give up with a serious problem I have with Zoho, but I thought I would ask one more time.

The problem is related to timezones and the fact that datetime fields in Zoho have an implied timezone, that of the user, and there is no way of attaching a timezone selector to a field.

So please consider this situation. You are a user in Panama and you are traveling to France next month. You call a contact in France and arrange a meeting for that trip, say February 20th at 11am. If you record that meeting in CRM and fill "11am" in the time field, CRM will think it's 11am in the user's timezone in Panama. But it's not, it's the time that the meeting will take place in France.

If the user sent a calendar invite from that record it would be completely wrong.

The only option that the user has is keeping this in mind and making the conversion from 11am in France to whatever time in Panama and filling that result in the datetime field. So, the field would give the equivalent time to 11am France to any user that sees the record, and calendar invitations would be fine.

But this would be problematic too! The user that created the record, the user that is going to meet, is going to see something like "2am" all the time, and having to remember that this is Panama time and not the France time when the meeting will actually happen. And a worse problem: making users responsible for timezone conversion outside of CRM will certainly cause errors.

Do you have any suggestion for managing this problem? As of today, my only acceptable idea is turning the datetime field into a text field and giving up managing calendar invitations from CRM entirely.

I've been fighting this for a year, investing lots of time in failed solutions, and I'm at the end of my ideas.
