Creating alerts for when notes are made in various CRM modules.

We just realized that our sales team has been leaving notes in various CRM modules. These notes are often things like "couldn't contact customer", etc. Basically stuff we want to be informed of ASAP.

My first plan was to create a workflow that creates an alert when a note is made. However, it looks like there's no option for this. 

In fact, the only way I can find to trace notes has been through the Audit Log. I don't think there are even API names for notes left (so I can't use API names to pull that data). 

Curious to hear from others who've figured out a solution for this!
