CRM 2016 - Potentials Won/Lost Pop-up Screens

I strongly dislike the pop-up screens that open when you change the potential stage to Won or Lost.

1. CLOSING DATE: I don't like having to depend on users entering correct data. Since the pop-ups were implemented, my workflow automation rule to change the closing date to today when a potential is won or lost no longer works. Since so many reports use the closing date, I want the system to make sure the closing date is correct, not the user!

2. REASON LOST: It is not at all useful to place important information like the reason you lost a potential in notes. You can't report on notes! High level analysis of why you're losing potentials requires separate fields. I already have two separate custom fields: a) Reason Lost dropdown and b) Explain text field. It's confusing that there are now multiple fields, and I don't want them entering information in the wrong place.

Please improve the pop-ups, allow admins to turn them off, or remove them!
