In CRM layout / fields configuration, it's not possible to restrict required field's permissions for selected profiles:

I can see the logic although there is also an argument for read only required fields for some profiles.

1/ am I getting it right?

2/ are there any practical workarounds so that some profiles are not able to edit certain fields (that have a required attribute)
