CRM to Desk - Sync Issues

Guys,

Having persistent problem with timely sync of CRM records to Desk.  I have CRM to Desk (one way) activated.

I identified the following cases:

1. CRM account is added and I do not see it in Desk. Another account that was added at the same time is visible. 
2. An account that was deleted in CRM a long time ago still appears in the search field for Account in the Desk Contact profile. When I search for this account, it doesn't appear so it seems to be hanging somewhere.

Is there a way to force sync?  It's difficult to work on both systems in parallel when the sync between those systems doesn't happen instantly.
