Custom Auto Number with Year Month and Initial.

I would like to create a transaction ID that will follow a new potential through quote, sales order and Invoice.

I would like to create an auto number field, Lets call it a transaction number ( Trans ID), it will be made up of 2 digit year, 2 digit month, 3 digit auto number and 2 Alpha characters pulled from the User Alias, eg YYMM###AA. could someone help me create such a field and inform me how I might link this field across Potential, Quote, Sales Order and Invoice.
