Because contacts are people the Contacts module lets us do some fun stuff, like add a salutation, first name and last name by default, send surveys and sign documents.

This isn't currently possible in custom modules as they are not recognised as people, just objects/records.

I would like to see a feature where I can create a custom module and tell the system that it represents a person, so I can use all those great features which are available to contacts.

As a workaround you can use a layout in contacts to achieve something similar but it would be nice to have the flexibility to keep some records separate from the contact module.
