Is there a way to create your own Objects or Tabs? Can you extend the database and make new/related tables to existing tables and create your own custom forms?

Are custom objects/tabs still on the roadmap? These are a key decision point for my company between Zoho and Salesforce. Is there an ETA on this feature?
