Custom Opportunity Types

I would like to have a custom opportunity type that then drives different fields presented in the Opportunity Form.

Any ideas?

Example:

1) Create New Potential

2) Potential Type A - Form for collection is unique to Type A

3) Potential Type B - Form for collection is unique to Type B

We have different stages and other data relevant to Opportunity types. Any suggestion would be appreciated.
