Customer/Vendor Portal session duration - can it be extended?

Hi all,

We'd like to know how long the login session lasts for the Customer/Vendor Portal in Zoho Books, and whether there's any way to extend it (either through settings or via support/API).

Right now this is causing a pretty poor experience for our customers. Here's the flow we're running into:

  1. We send a customer a quote/estimate that needs their approval.
  2. They click the link in the email to view and approve it.
  3. If their portal session has expired, they're forced to log in again.
  4. After logging in, they're dropped on the portal home page instead of being taken back to the quote they were trying to approve.

This means the customer has to log in, then manually hunt for the quote again just to approve it - which is an extra, unnecessary step and creates friction at exactly the point where we want approval to be quick and easy.

Could someone from the Zoho Books team clarify:

  • The default session timeout for the portal
  • Whether this timeout is configurable
  • Whether there's a fix planned so that after login, the user is redirected back to the specific document (quote/invoice/etc.) they originally clicked, rather than the home page

This would really help improve the approval experience for our customers. Thanks!
