Hello Zoho Voice Team,
We would like to submit a feature request regarding the voicemail functionality in Zoho Voice, specifically the system-generated prompts that are played before and after a caller records a voicemail message.
Current Limitation:
Zoho Voice allows administrators to upload a custom voicemail greeting that callers hear before leaving a message. This is extremely useful because organizations can record greetings in their preferred language.
However, after the custom greeting finishes, Zoho Voice automatically plays a series of built-in voicemail instructions, such as:
- "Record your message at the tone. Press any key to stop the recording."
- "Your voicemail is saved."
- "Press 1 to listen to your recording."
- "Press 2 to delete this recording and record again."
- "Press 3 to delete this recording and disconnect the call."
These system prompts are currently played only in english (and maybe some other languages) and cannot be customized or replaced with customer-provided recordings.
Use Case:
Organizations operating in languages that are not currently supported by Zoho Voice, such as Hebrew, can create a localized caller experience for IVRs, queue announcements, greetings, and other audio elements by uploading custom recordings.
However, when a caller reaches voicemail, the experience suddenly switches to system-generated prompts in a different language.
For Hebrew-speaking callers, this creates a confusing and inconsistent experience because they may not understand the instructions required to:
- Record a message
- Save a message
- Re-record a message
- Listen to their recording
- Delete their recording
As a result, callers may abandon the process or leave incomplete messages.
Requested Enhancement:
We would like Zoho Voice to provide a way to add Custom Audio Uploads for Voicemail Prompts
This will allow administrators to upload custom recordings for voicemail system prompts, including:
- Start recording instructions
- Save recording confirmation
- Playback options
- Re-record options
- Delete options
- Any other voicemail-related prompts
This would allow organizations to fully localize the voicemail experience regardless of the language supported by the platform.
Also, As Zoho Voice expands language support, allowing organizations to simply choose the appropriate language for these prompts without needing custom recordings will also help.
Business Benefits:
This enhancement would:
- Enable a fully localized voicemail experience.
- Improve accessibility for callers who do not speak the default prompt language.
- Eliminate confusing language transitions during the voicemail flow.
- Increase voicemail completion rates.
- Improve customer experience and caller confidence.
- Allow organizations to continue using Zoho Voice even when their primary language is not yet supported by Text-to-Speech or other voice AI features.
Why This Is Important:
Unlike IVR greetings or queue announcements, voicemail system prompts currently have no available workaround.
Organizations can record their own greetings and announcements in any language, but they cannot replace the voicemail instructions that follow. This creates a significant localization gap and prevents businesses from delivering a fully native-language caller experience.
Providing either customizable recordings or localized system prompts would remove this limitation and make Zoho Voice significantly more usable for international customers and regions where full language support is still being introduced.
Thank you for your consideration.
Kind regards,
Ram
