Customizing Quotes

Hi,

I was wondering how to edit the Product Details section of the quote template. Our business needs to refer to a model and part number for each line item in order to quote, which I'd like to enter manually as a text area. I'm fine with leaving the Product Name as a general category, but I need to associate 2 open fields with each product line item.

I was able to add a Model Number field and Part Number field in the Inventory Templates -> Quote Templates interface. However if I go back to the Quote module and add more than one product to my quote, I only have one model number field and one part number field for the entire quote. I attached a screen shot of this modified quote module to clarify what I am seeing.

So how do I add custom fields to each product I add to a quote? Without this feature, it makes the quote function virtually useless for us.
