Cycle 3 suggession : - Open URL in header Custom Action

Cycle 3 suggession : - Open URL in header Custom Action

Consider an Event Management application, that uses Events , Contacts (Roles defined as speakers, participants, volunteers), Company (Roles defined as sponsors, partners, Organisers) etc.

Upon finalizing an Event, rest of the details are reviewed, revised and updates are done on an ongoing basis until D-Day ( ie.. not an one time action).

At the Contacts view, Custom header action that takes in List as a paramenter
  • Multiselect Contacts & there by get their IDs
  • Custom header action that takes in ID List as a paramenter-  && -- That would display a form that provides the event list
  • Append Contacts view - to the Event chosen
  • Append Event record  - to the list of contacts selected.
Kindly Note, its append, and not replace.
When the list runs into hundreds, its practically impossible to put Add to Event  across each contact's record

Alternatively, having Add speakers custom action to Event's List - across each record would require the following
  • Event ID is captured
  • Present contact:view (Role == speakers) - allow multiselect
    • When the no. of contacts run to several hundreds, it would not be wise to present them in the interim staeless form as multiselect list / check boxes.
    • Further, just the contact name would not be sufficient to make a decision.
    • An Event manager might have to consider other factors too ( Company, Area of experties, Availablity, Location etc etc)
    • These details are best presented in the View - Format, rather than cramping everything in the statelss form
  • Append Contacts view - to the Event chosen
  • Append Event record  - to the list of contacts selected.

This is an oversimplified version of the use-case scenario.
Please feel free to add any alternate logic that might occur to you
