dashboard

I am trying to create a custom dashboard and add content. I was able create the dashboard but I can not add content. I am trying to create a table of current tasks, when adding this component I get an error message, "Source Report cannot be a Tabular report" Can this be corrected. I would like to create a dashboard to use as my home page and need to add several components that I can not currently add. Thanks for your help.
