Definitive list of formats supported in writer remote API?

Hi, I've seen inconsistent information in the documentation regarding what file formats are supported in the writer remote API. For instance, PDF has been listed, but I don't believe it is truly supported. Also, I think some .doc files don't quite work. Can someone please provide a complete list of file formats that are supported?
