We have updated our lead input screen and 'Salutation' has
appeared. This is not visible in the 'Edit Pgae Layout' screen
so cannot be moved to 'List
of Removed Fields'
Salutation
is visible in the list in 'Customization - Fields' however I
can only 'Edit' or 'Replace' I cannot delete and I
do not need this field on my lead input screen.
We had a word with our product team and are sorry to inform you that we are not working on an option to hide/remove the Salutation field. The Salutation field will continue to be part of the First Name field, and we are not rethinking this.
We request you share your use cases and pain points with not being able to remove/hide the Salutation field. We will forward the same to our product team.
As a workaround,
a) you can hide the First Name field and use the Name field (previously called Last Name).
b) you can choose 'None' as the default option for the Salutation field.
Let us know of the downsides to using these workarounds. We can scout for more options.
I know this is a feature request you feel is resolved but the Western world is the same as was mentioned in the comments about Latin America, the culture and law are shifting towards not including a salutation. We just leave it blank for now but it would be nice to have the option to remove it in the future.
I am still awaiting a response from the product team regarding the timeline for accommodating the option to remove or hide the Salutation field. Nevertheless, I would like to guarantee you that we have not regarded this request for a feature as completed.
The post is labelled as an Idea, and we are documenting the feedback and scenarios for the necessity to remove or hide the Salutation field.
I will respond with the latest information from our product team. Thank you.
I am sorry to inform you that we haven't started work on the option to remove or hide the Salutation fields. In the meantime, you'll have to resort to leaving the Salutation field empty.
1. I appreciate your response because, according to our information, it is useful to keep a conversation open and change its status in agreement with the customer.
It is useful to do anything in agreement with one's trading partners.
We want to agree with you on some things. With whom would you like to me talk e.g. about Zoho Commerce and CRM? We can't use Commerce yet.
2. I appreciate your thinking of allowing us to choose whether we use this field.
According to our information, it is useful in many cases to allow software users to enable / disable a feature.
We can help you do more than this, to the extent you want customer satisfaction and your revenue to increase.
An unfortunate counterexample is that some providers tell users sometimes: "We will not do what you request." I refer especially to the times when users can switch providers at acceptable costs. We are trying to understand whether Zoho is the most helpful developer on which we can rely a lot for many years. You seem to offer a lot. We want to see first that your software works for us.
This is an absolutely embarrassing response from the Zoho team - this is such a minor bug to fix (on the scope of 1-2 days for an engineer MAX). Do better, Zoho.
Sorry to hear of your frustration, Taylor. We have plans to work on this but we haven't started development. We'll share updates when have advancements on this front. Thank you.
Is this still the case? Most of my customers requested the option to hide the salutation field. This one of the most non-important fields in the system. There is a need to hide it. For the user, this is additional field that Needed to be ignored.
I know this is a bit of an older thread, but I 100% agree that the salutation field is obsolete and has been so for many years. Zoho should remove it from being married to the First Name field and separate it as an optional field so that Zoho subscribers can decide whether they want it. I have tested many different CRM solutions, and not a single one has the salutation field (if it even exists on the platform) married to the first name field. I don't get the point of it in 2025, and it needs to be reworked into a separate optional field!
We understand the need to hide or remove the Salutation field. Our developers are currently exploring the possibility of providing an option to toggle the Salutation field on or off. At this time, we do not have a definite timeline for this feature. I will also make sure to add your votes in support of it.
We weren't using it previously, but a new employee recently added a salutation to a contact. This resulted in an email being sent addressed to "Mr. ...".
We're concerned about the negative impression this might have made on the recipient, and hope it didn't cause the email to be marked as spam.
