Suggestions for Improving the Deluge Development Experience

Suggestions for Improving the Deluge Development Experience

Hello,

I would like to share some ideas that could significantly improve the Deluge development experience, especially for partners and developers building larger solutions across the Zoho ecosystem.

Some key areas that would add a lot of value:

  1. Deluge CLI / Local Development Kit
A proper local development environment with tools such as:

    • Linter
    • Formatter
    • Unit test runner
    • Mock support for Zoho tasks (for example, zoho.crm.*)
    • CI/CD integration support

This would allow developers to follow modern software development practices and build, test, and deploy solutions more efficiently.

  2. Deluge Package Manager
A package management system for reusable our own Deluge libraries that can be imported across functions and organizations. (Client Script already have this)

Currently, developers often copy and paste the same helper functions across multiple scripts, which creates maintenance challenges and increases the risk of inconsistencies.

  3. COQL Expansion Across the Ecosystem
Extend COQL support to more Zoho products, such as Zoho Books.

Having one consistent query language across the ecosystem would simplify development and reduce the learning curve when working with multiple Zoho applications.

  4. Limitations on APIs
On of the biggest limitations I struggled these days, was updating 3-4k invoices on zoho books. On Zoho CRM, you can update up to 100 records with 1 invoke url, but on Books, you need 1 api per record. So 1k records on crm is only 10 api calls, on zoho books are 1k....

These improvements would make Deluge a much stronger enterprise development platform and would help partners deliver more scalable and maintainable solutions.

Thank you for considering this feedback.

Best regards,
