Difficulty doing sync with Google calendar

Difficulty doing sync with Google calendar

I select the Settings > Sync > Google Calendar option, and it pops up a window as if it going to do something.  The window displays GOOGLE CALENDAR at the top left, but just shows the active bars at the bottom continuously and doesn't stop to give me an option to put in my user name, etc.  Any suggestions on how long this should take (waited 1/2 hr) and still going (and I don't have a super slow computer).  Did this multiple times.  Any reason that this may not be working?
