Display total RECURSIVE mail count next to each parent folder

First, thank you all for the consistent improvements you've made by listening to customers. It means a great deal to all of us!
As referrenced previously, I submit the request of improving the folder unread count by not only displaying the total of all unread mails *in* a given parent folder, but also adding to that total found in all sub-folders, recursively. A good working example of this is Mozilla Thunderbird -- unread counts of parent IMAP folders and all of their respective children are totaled and displayed at each level.
The chief benefit here is obvious: greater efficiency when working with hierarchies, especially those whose various levels are receiving filtered messages kept as unread. The user would then not need to waste time expanding and collapsing unnecessary tree sections when scanning for new messages.
Also, it would be nice if in Settings we could toggle message count display on/off as a whole, as well as optionally turning recursive counting on/off as a sub-setting. A related option would be the ability to also display the *TOTAL* message count (read and unread, in regular font weight, perhaps faded a bit in color) alongside the unread count (in bold). You can find a decent working example of that in Runbox.com's interface.
In closing, it already appears that unread counts are being polled throughout the hierarchy every time the webmail interface is loaded, so I wouldn't think that recursive summation and display would be too hard to get implemented -- here's hoping!
