Does anyone else find the 'expected amount' in Potentials ridiculous?

Does anyone else find the 'expected amount' in Potentials ridiculous?

So, I don't about you, but you either win a deal, or you don't win a deal.  Right?!

If the size of the deal is larger or smaller than expected when you close it, that's fine, that's normal.

But when I create an 'amount' that the potential is worth and then enter the probability stage, of let's say 'Value Proposition' (40%), Zoho decides that the deal is then worth 40% of the amount?!  WTF?   This is the dumbest thing ever, and so annoying?!  I've worked in IT and software sales environments for 20 years and NO sales team has ever forecasted like this.  Weird?!

It seems to be a fairly fundamental concept too within Zoho.  I can't change all stages apart from 'won' to be 0% expected revenue.  Not that I have seen a way anyway....

And the reports use the 'Expected Amount' a lot too...   This is totally nonsensical!  I want to see the value of all my 'potentials' and then be able to see what the probability is that each potential make come in.  Grrrrr.   </rant>
