TIPS AND TRICKS #11 - Domain authentication

Emails sent can sometimes land in your recipient’s spam folder or bounce. This happens when the email address in the From field of an email belongs to a domain that does not have SPF and DKIM records.

In order to prevent this in Zoho Invoice, you should authenticate your domain. You can refer to this link for steps to authenticate your domain in Zoho Invoice.

Key notes

You need to configure the records in TXT format in your domain's DNS settings.
If you already have an SPF record configured, you need to combine the Zoho Invoice SPF record along with your existing SPF record removing v=spf1.

For example: If you already have an SPF record, v=spf1 include:_spf.google.com ~all and say the Zoho Invoice SPF record is, v=spf1 include:sender.zohoinvoice.com

You need to combine the SPF records into a single record: v=spf1 include:sender.zohoinvoice.com include:_spf.google.com ~all

Depending on your domain provider, sometimes while adding the DKIM record, you need to remove the domain name from the hostname of the DKIM record to validate it.

For example: Say your hostname is 1522406527365._domainkey.zylker.com. While adding it to the DNS settings, you need to remove the domain name alone from the hostname as the domain name will be automatically added in the record.

So, your hostname should be 1522406527365._domainkey

Once you have followed the above mentioned details, your domain will be authenticated without any problems. You might need to wait for sometime so that the records are reflected in your domain's DNS settings.
