Did You Know you can define different break hours within your work schedule in Zoho Projects?
In an organization, most teams follow a standard work schedule with time set aside for lunch or short breaks. Without breaks added in, task durations get calculated against the entire shift and not the actual working hours.
Day Break addresses this by letting you set non-working windows directly within
Business Hours so task durations reflect the hours your team is working. Teams with fixed schedules can use the
Same Breaks option to apply one break window across all working days. For teams with rotating shifts or weekly standups,
Different Breaks lets you set separate windows for each day. For teams handling live support, breaks can be spread across the shift so someone is always available even when others step away.

To set this up, navigate to the settings page by clicking
Icon and
→ Portal Configuration → Business Calendar. Click
New Business Hours in the upper-right corner of the page. Set your working hours and select
Same hours or
Different hours based on your team's schedule. Click within any working day to add a break slot, drag to set the duration, and click

to edit or

to delete the slot.
Benefits:
- Calculate task duration based on actual working hours.
- Supports fixed, flexible, and split break schedules.
- Keeps timelines in check with your team's availability.

Do give this a try and let us know your feedback in the comments.
