Email and Pop-Up not Activating for Event Reminders

I have been banging my head against the wall trying to fix this.  I set all sorts of test events and fiddled with the modules for some time to fix the problem.  It's not working.  I can't seem to get the email alerts in my Outlook inbox, neither am I receiving the pop-up alerts for the events directly on my ZoHo page.  I have gone into Calendar preferences, and noticed that the drop down menu for reminders does not have the "At time of Event" option, only the "5 minutes before" option.  Please, can someone help me in fixing this?  I really need the help.  Thanks!
