Email Integration Best Practices

Is there a document somewhere that details all the different methods of integrating email into Zoho CRM and the pros and cons of each (IMAO, POP etc)? Is there a recommended best practice/method for someone using G Suite?

Currently we are set up using IMAP but it's my understanding that using this method is someone leaves and their g suite account gets deleted all the email would also disappear from Zoho. That doesn't seem good :-).

However I assume that POP integration may be worse?
