Email Setup Failure

When setting up a user email account, I would get an error "invalid user/ password". I know these settings are correct because I log in using our server's webmail and get in fine. Also if I setup another user's email address under my profile, I can retrieve their emails. I've already tried deleting the profile and setting it up again; I also tried shortening the password for my email account. Please assist.
