Email support added for Vendors module in CRM

[5 April 2024] This feature has been opened to all users in all DCs. Support for custom email fields will be enabled shortly.
Hello folks,
We're making a highly anticipated upgrade to the Vendors module: You'll now be able to send emails (including mass emails) and track your email conversations with vendors within CRM. So, email conversations about inquiries, contracts, joint initiatives, invoices, SLAs, renewal dates, product updates, and more will be easily accessible within a vendor's record in CRM.

The Vendors module had an existing email field, but this was used solely for sending purchase orders from the Purchase Orders module. We found that, as businesses scale, multiple CRM users start interacting with vendors and the lack of email support can become a significant pain point.

With the latest upgrade, you can simply use the Vendors module to manage vendor details, send emails, and track email conversations. You'll no longer have to switch between your email app and your CRM to send emails or review communication with vendors.

Let's look at the additions one by one.

Send mail

A Send Email button has been added to the records of vendors. In addition to support for email templates, the email composer will include quick suggestions and autocomplete for all email addresses stored in that vendor's record (in standard fields as well as custom email fields).

Email related list


The email related list will be available in each vendor's record. You can track all your email conversations with the vendor here. Within the related list, you can drill down into a particular conversation by choosing one of the associated email addresses.
An All Emails view has been added to help you get a complete picture of your CRM users' interactions with vendors. Please note that this will be available only when the total number of email fields (including system-defined fields) is five or fewer.

Mass email


Need to notify multiple vendors about a change in your company's ordering process? Simply create an email template and send a mass mail to the relevant vendors.

Email sharing permissions

Your email sharing permissions will apply to your emails with vendors as well.

Smart filter

Vendor records can be filtered based on email status in the smart filter.

Email opt-out

The email opt-out field will be available to help vendors opt out of receiving emails from CRM.

Email reports


Your email reports in CRM will now include the email conversations with your vendors.
