Email the contacts in invoices
As there is no possibility to create email templates using fields from invoices module, is there any chance we could have the option to send mass emails from the 'All Invoices' view (AND CREATE CUSTOM VIEWS) as you can with contacts. This would of course have to use the contact field (in the invoices module) the same way that it does for sending the invoice itself but on a mass scale. Eg. I would like to be able to send the same message to several customers all at once, who have bookings with us. It would be even better if I could do this without having to attach a file to the email (as is currently the case) when you send an email from quotes or contacts (you just cannot send an email without attaching a file and I figure this is as an assurance that you don't forget to attach the file but couldn't it be a "no template" option in the templates list?).
I cannot do what I need to efficiently with the contacts module because not all the contacts we have are also customers. So I need to target only customers with booking dates coming up soon,the an nd again shortly after the booking date has passed I would ned to do this again. To be able to use the contacts view creation tool to create a view of customers with invoices in the system would be just as good but as it stands, there is absolutely no option for me to send emails to customers on mass and select them quickly based on who is being invoiced (and then use a template that draws on the invoice module for data).
Just so you can see an example of one users (me) frustration with the lack of connection with invoices & contacts:
Currently using the contacts module to send mass emails to invoiced customers also makes it harder to find the right people and I have to spend time making sure I have the right customers checked off. Then I have to manually send the emails I want to send to those customers who are repeat customers and for whom I have created newer invoices with different information to what is on their contact profile (most repeat customers have new information for locations and dates & times and other data. Becasue there is no mapping of fields between invoices and contacts it's a waste of time updating the contacts profile for every new booking for that customer so I simply create a new invoice by cloning previous one's then updating any information that needs changing.
I've now hit a brick wall if I want to send emails using the invoicing data to more than one person at a time and I think it's about time you guys get this sorted out and give us one or the other working option. Either the ability to mass email customers directly from the invoicing & quoting pages or modules. OR make it possible to use the invoicing/quoting fields data in contact module email templates.
Basically from what I have read through the forum you have a number of people that are asking for there to be a connection with data from contacts and the data from invoices and quotes (and who knows how many more users have read your responses thinking that something is being done so haven't bothered to comment or ask what is already being asked for). Can we please have one or the other or some way of being able to use the invoices data in emailing customers without sending them an invoice or other attached file.
I honestly can't beleive I have to ask for this.
