Email view in Activity

Since email is a activity.

I am trying to do a Activity view showing emails from today. That way I can place this on my home page and see today's emails.

However emails do not appear int eh activity view.

Please advise if I am missing something here or there is a al;alternate way of doing this. I already have a report, but I need a view to get it on the Home page.
