Odd issue - I wanted to do an overdue clean-up of my zoho mail folder - so I spent several hours sorting out all the emails in the inbox, moving them either to folders or deleting them...
I did this primarily using mailstrom which I understand connects via imap
Following this, both outlook (connected via imap also) and zoho webmail show the inbox empty and emails in the relevant folders or deleted
However, my android phone which connects via exchange activesync is still showing a large number of emails in the inbox and not placed in the relevant folders where they should be
I have gone back and checked the 'auto-expunge' option in imap settings and tried manually re-syncing but the emails still stay the same on the phone. (Oddly, I have since tested deleting a single email on outlook or moving one to a folder and it does seem to mirror the move/deletion on the phone in this case)
So the main questions are:
1) why has exchange activesync not pushed all the deletions/moves that were done before - could it be because mailstrom was processing so many emails at once and it overloaded the push mechanism?
2) how do I now get the phone to properly mirror my actual mail folders (i.e. empty inbox and emails sorted into folders)? I have tried sync'ing manually on the phone, even disabling and reenabling push sync - ideally a solution that doesn't mean i have to delete all my mail data and re-setup all the accounts would be preferable!
