Exsiting Fields in New Module

I was wanderning if it is possible to add fields from other modules to new or existing modules.

I.e. I want mailing address fields available to select in the invoices module or mailing address fields in a brand new module.

Is this possible?

If not why cant we present data between modules if its available?
