Eye Candy for List Views ...

Although I would like the first Community Driven Feature to be the development of the "ReplaceAll built-in Function" that I suggested here ... http://help.zoho.com/portal/en/community?ftid=2266000000242421 ... for those of you that feel there is insufficient benefit to be derived from being able to transform template Emails and HTML Views with speed and ease ... I suggest another feature here for your consideration.

This suggestion is actually a collection "eye candy" improvements relating to the rendering of List Views ... that came about as a result of pointed questions from clients.

a) The Column Titles should be rendered using the same Alignment as the field contents below the Titles

Currently, Column Titles are always Left Aligned ... so the contents of number, percentage and currency fields (which are right aligned) look out of place ... especially with a long column title and a short numeric value.

b) Users should be able to define the formating of number, currency and percent fields

I suggest that ZOHO Creator provide additional facilities in Edit Mode for users to define the format e.g. ...

$1,000.00

or

DM 1.000,00

or

1000.00

etc.

Users should be able to specify this format separately for each field.

c) The Rows of SubTotals/Totals should allow specification of descriptive text

When List Views contain fields defined as requiring their SUMs to be displayed, the row containing these Totals is barren of any description ... same for the rows that render the Group SubTotals for these fields.

I have had clients tell me that the application was erroneously displaying values in triplicate ... because the List View contained a group with just one record.

It has also been suggested that a count of the number of records in the Groups (and in Total) be displayed.

So, I suggest that ZOHO Creator provide additional facilities in Edit Mode for users to specify the descriptive text that should be displayed in such rows ... this specification could be in the form of a "mask" e.g. ...

<%=GroupTotalCount%> records in Group: Paris

or

<%=GrandTotalCount%> records in this View

... where ZOHO Creator would substitute values for <%=GroupTotalCount%> and <%=GrandTotalCount%>

Note that there are NO WORKAROUNDS at present to achieve the suggested improvements.
