Feature Query: Prevent display of a module's fields based on user type

Hello,

I'm building a CRM abomination that needs to represent more than one person's confirmation that a lead can be turned into an account.

To enforce independence, I need to prevent certain user groups (e.g. standard) from being able to view or edit a field in the leads module, but the privileged users ( administrators) to be able to see and edit it.

is this possible?
