Was a happy google apps user for close to 6 years (i got a beta invite when they first started offering the service). since then, they have stripped features (for both paying, and what used to be free) to the point that it is no longer a viable platform. in searching for another, i ran into zoho, which on paper, seems perfect.
i have one horrible issue that there does not appear to be any way to deal with: spam. google automatically blocked known senders and ip's... probably one of the benefits to having a base that large to see where its coming from. but, the end result to the user was: we never even saw it. if it was a known ip that had been blacklisted: it never even reached your account... it was simply dropped. some may see this as too much of an imposition, or worry about the possibility of dropping good mail. never had a single issue though.
immediately after switching to zoho, it was evident. the spam filter would fill up as you watched it... sometimes 100 per hour. great that its keeping it from my inbox, but not good in the sense that i still need to go through up to 1000 spam messages per day for the first few weeks/months at least.
the one thing that is lacking seems to be the spam filtering. you only allow white/blacklisting... which may help on a very small scale, but not a large one. there does not appear to be any means to reject based on score... to write rules against anything dealing with spam (outside of from and subject line).... so how are people meant to deal with this? what can i do to combat this problem?
