Even if you block certain fields on Account or Contacts to certain roles - like the phone number.
The end users that shouldn't see those fields see them when they search for a specific name. The search result page displays the blocked fields. Email , Phone, Fax on the search results page.

THIS NEEDS TO BE CORRECTED.

It would also be great to be able to block these fields for only non assigned data.
So they could see all fields on all their contacts / accounts etc... but fields are can be blocked on contact/accounts etc.. that are not assigned to them.

It would also be great to block activities, notes attachments etc.. to users that do not own the data.

This way they can search for someone in the system and all they can retrieve is very limited like first last name and who it belongs to.

In an aggressive sales force sometimes its needed to not display history and personal data.
