Hello everyone,
Until now during lead conversion, similar records in Contacts or Accounts module were found based on the values present in the system-defined fields like Lead's email address, company or name.
Now, we are also using the unique fields in the Contacts and Accounts module to find any similar records.
Henceforth, both unique (in the Contacts and Accounts module) and system defined fields (in the Leads module) will play an important role in identifying similar records across modules. The system will first check for a similar record using a unique field in the contacts module and then the accounts module. In case of absence of a unique field another round of check will be made using the values present in the system defined fields.
For example, consider if a Phone Number is a unique field in the Contacts module then the system will identify similar contacts using the value present in the phone number.
Likewise if Website is a unique field in the Accounts Module, then the system will find similar accounts using values present in the website.
If both don't show similar records, then system-defined fields from Leads module that is, Lead's Email, Name or Company Name will be used to find similar records.
Similar Contacts will be found using Lead's email address or name and similar Accounts will be found using Lead's company name. If similar records are not found then new Account and Contact will be created.
