forwarding pic

I forwarded an email with pictures to my friend, he could not view the pics. Then when send the pictures again using my outlook (pop access), he was able to view it.

These pictures were embedded with links in the email. I tested this using gmail, it worked. The other person was able to open the pictures that he received from my gmail.

Can you let me know what is causing this or how can I solve this?
