Function #36: Mail item list to customers using Custom button

Hello everyone, and welcome back to our series!

In response to ever-changing market conditions, inflation, and cost fluctuations, businesses often find it necessary to revise item rates to sustain profitability. Following the changes, it also becomes crucial to communicate the updated prices to customers. This ensures that customers have the necessary information to make well-informed purchasing decisions, thereby promoting transparency and trust in the business-client relationship.

Today, we're excited to introduce a script designed to effortlessly send item information to chosen customers with just a click. Whether you've recently modified prices and need to keep your customers updated or simply want to share your item catalog with new customers, this button is the perfect solution.

Prerequisites:

1. Create a Connection named "zbooks" to successfully execute the function. You can watch the GIF attached below to know how to create the connection.

Custom Button:

Go to Settings -> Preferences -> Customers and Vendors -> Custom Buttons -> Click +New and Choose "New Custom Button". Populate the details as mentioned below:

1. Name - Give a suitable name (e.g., Mail Item list).

2. Visibility - Select the option that aligns with your preference for granting users access to the custom button.

3. Location - Choose "List Page - Bulk Action Menu".

Once done, add the script from this GitHub link -> Save.

Here's how to access the button:

Go to Sales -> Customers -> Bulk select the customers for whom you wish to mail the item list -> Click the Custom Button (Mail Item list) -> Click "Proceed". An email containing a file of the item information (Item Name, SKU, Sales Rate) will be sent to each of the selected customers. The email will include the following message:

Dear %Customer Name%,

Greetings!

Attached is the file listing of items available for sale. If you have any queries or need clarification, please contact us at ${ORGANIZATION.PHONE}.

Best regards,
%UserName%
%CompanyName%

Note: The script can export and send up to 10,000 items, with 50 items on each page. Also, the mail will be sent to the primary email address of the customer.
