Got an invite to a portal Via e-mail only lets me create an account no access to the portal??

Got an email invite to join a portal asks me to create an account so I did now the invite link to the portal just brings me to my account. no portal access no direction how to access that portal just a side bar with like 25 applications. most confusing  application site I ever came across just want to view the work flow in the portal but that option is no where to be found among the 25 applications???
