Help Center Best Practice for formatting PDF Articles to the KB

I am part of an organization that migrated from a different CRM system and we are trying to upload our existing Articles (which are PDFs) into the Knowledge Base. 

I have tried uploading with the below two methods:
1- Convert .pdf to a .docx and use the Import tool
2- Copy and past the text and images directly from the PDF to the Article Editor.

In both of these methods, the formatting never transfers correctly, the images are not re-sizeable or moveable, and the page alignment is off.

What are some suggestions or tips for transferring a PDF to the KB as an article? Is there a way to just upload the PDF and have it be the only thing listed?
