How do my notes transfer from a lead to an account when I convert the lead?

How do my notes transfer from a lead to an account when I convert the lead?

I have converted a few leads and my my notes have not transferred to the account.  The notes transfer from the lead to the contact, but as I am using the account as my primary source of information, I do not want to keep popping in the contact for notes.

Also, is there a way to transfer the attached files from the lead to the account?
