How do you use Task Lists?

I'm new to Zoho Projects and I'm trying to figure out the best way to use Task Lists. I've noticed that sometimes tasks are shown grouped by their Task List and other times they are shown with no grouping.

When do you decide to use a task list instead of sub tasks?
