I am thinking of switching to Zoho hosted mail. I have approx. 1.3G of mail in many hundreds of folders organized hierarchically. It goes up to 7 layers deep. I have to often pull up messages from previous years. Would I be able to search the entire content by using Zoho search?

Right now I use an IMAP account. My desktop client is Thunderbird, the server is MailXchange hosted by 1and1. The server allows a multi layer structure, but the search function is useless. Because of that I have to use TB to be able to search through the entire content.

Thanks in advance for the input.

I have recently switched to Zoho and I am happy with the search results - very quick and accurate, compared to my previous provider (small hosting company, the name would not ring any bell). There was a number of reasons to switch but an effective search feature was one of them.
Having said that - I do not use deep folder structure, but as I found your question intersting I have just set up a nested,  6-levels deep folder structure and hidden one email there. Run the search with the default settings and the email was found immediately. You can use advanced settings too, to search within particular folder, by subject line, email address etc.

Hope this helps.

Tom,

Thank you very much for the input.

I know this is twelve years ago. But for whoever else reads this.

The mail search for zoho is very terrible currently. If you have a lot of emails and you would like to be able to search them well. I recommend Gmail until zoho gets their act together. Yes I'm sure they are better than a small hosting company but their search is far inferior to Gmail or outlook.

Their search is AWFUL!!!!!!
