How to define decision box value in email template

I want to add data to my form via email and one of my lines in the email template is a decision box that I want to appear in the database as false (unchecked). However, it always appears as true even if I type 'false' in the email template. What am I supposed to type in the email template to get it appear as unchecked in the database? Thanks for your help.
